About Us

KRITHAA, as a label, works around the idea that a jewellery piece is the wearer of the human body and the body is an impermanent carrier of the jewellery piece.

Krithaa graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from CEPT University. Later she interned with Architecture Studios in Goa & Auroville in India where she learnt about the importance of process and context driven design practices.

Her interest in making accessories began in 2013 when she made a few accessories from mild-steel hardwares, which helped express herself behind an otherwise shy personality. Having experienced the subtle power of jewellery in the deep layers of her own being, she launched her eponymous label in 2015.

From there onwards, through the medium of jewellery, she embraced the process of 'learning by un-learning', and now draws from her intuition, yet within a fluid frame-work. On a parallel path, she also happened to connect to her lineage of carpenters and metal-smiths (called 'Luhar-Suthar in Gujarat) and uncovered that working with metals (not necesarrily jewellery) comes to her in a deeper way.

Krithaa is a slow and partially self taught artist, having observed the aspects of the craft from artisans who allowed her in their sacred work spaces after years of trust building and by respecting the artisan as the keeper of the craft and their romanticism around discretion of processes passed on by their families.
